A Canada Day weekend tradition took place at Exhibition Grounds with the 42nd CHIN International Picnic 2008 on June 28, 2008. The CHIN International Picnic 2008 has something for everyone including; The World Beat Music component, headlined by top performers from Italy, Portugal, South Asia, Hong Kong and Latin America; Sporting Events including a LIVE Club Boxing Show presented by Boxing Ontario and produced by Chris Johnson's Fighting Alliance, Cycling Races presented by the Midweek Cycling Club; Children's Activities including Team K9 Dog Challenge, Jungle Cat World, Circus Shows, Petting Zoo and Pony Rides, Amusement Park Rides and Games; Cultural Showcases such as the Folklore Dance Competition, Italian Festival, Portuguese Festival, Polish Festival, Chinese Festival and South Asian Festival along with Contests & Prizes with audience participation in a veal eating contest, 649 Happy Dance Contest, Karaoke contest and Activity Breaks. The highlight of the day (Saturday) was the Ms. CHIN Bikini 2008 pageant. For all the brave souls that were determined to attend the event despite the forecast of shower were definately rewarded with a great show minus the rain. This year there were 22 contestants competing for the crown and Toga was the theme wear for the opening. If you didn't make it to the event, here is a chance you can try being a "judge" and see if your top pick made it all the way to the top. Are you ready, for the challenge?
