The Brazilian Carnival Ball 2009 - Metro Toronto Convention Centre (April 25, 2009)
Dinner was served while the Via Brasil Band filled the ballroom with wonderful music. Don Stewart an auctioneer commanded the live auction this year which included fabulous bids for breakfast at Tiffany, vacation travels (Rio, London, Iceland, Italy) and a 2009 Lexus IS250. Nothing is complete at the Brazilian Carnival without the Samba Parade! The samba parade this year paid tribute to one of the most famous carnival sambas of all times "FESTA PROFANA" or "CARNIVAL, THE IRREVERENT FESTIVAL". This samba masterpiece dates back to the 1989 Rio Carnival and many consider it to be the unofficial anthem of the Rio Carnival. The lyrics of this samba emphasize the joyous, exuberant, passionate and magical essence of the carnival and celebrate the endless optimism of the Brazilian people, their boundless energy and effervescence in enjoying life to its fullest. The founder of the Brazilian Ball, dear Anna Maria de Souza, personified this unique Brazilian joie de vivre. Dance your way into the night as you immerse yourself into the spirit of the carnival.
