Eat to the Beat 2008 - Devour Delicious Delicacies for a Worthwhile Cause
TORONTO, ON (August 25, 2008) – Whether you are sampling delicious gourmet food,
sipping local wines or rubbing shoulders with over 60 fabulous female chefs, Eat to the
Beat is a mouth-watering way to kick-off breast cancer awareness month. Willow Breast
Cancer Support Canada’s 13th annual signature fundraising event will take place on
Tuesday, September 23 at Roy Thomson Hall with doors opening at 7:00pm.
Guests are enticed by an incredible array of sweet and savoury treats created by the
talented chefs, while sipping beverages from some of Canada’s finest wineries and
breweries. To round out the evening, Eat to the Beat has live music, an exciting raffle, a
seductive silent auction and a collection of food-inspired corsets celebrating women, food
and life. A terrific addition to this year’s event is ‘Wine, Dine & Design,’ an auction of
designer table settings where the highest bidder wins not only the décor, but also a meal
prepared in their own home by of one of our talented Eat to the Beat chefs.
This year’s event, supported in part by Platinum Title Sponsor AstraZeneca, will feature
celebrated chefs including: Anna Olson, host of The Food Network’s Sugar and Fresh with
Anna Olson; Fionna Lim of George; Winlai Wong of Spice Route Asian Bistro & Bar; Anne
Yarymowich of Art Gallery of Ontario; Dufflet Rosenberg of Dufflet Pastries; and Jennifer
Nickle of Cavalli in Montreal.
“There are many fundraising events I’ve participated in over the years but I can honestly
say Eat to the Beat tops them all, which is why I have returned for eight straight years,”
says Olson, the Chef Spokesperson again this year. “Eat to the Beat is a true celebration
of women and I am thrilled to be able to support Willow and its endeavours to support
those affected by breast cancer.”
With 90 per cent of the proceeds going directly to Willow's programs supporting those
affected by breast cancer, Eat to the Beat is a grand event for a wonderful cause.
