A night of flaunting fashion theatre

WANDERLUST - A colossal multimedia fashion & performance art show by Imago @ the Mansion (formerly the Foundation Nightclub) on Saturday November 29th, 2008. The Barrie nightlife scene will be glowing remarkably brighter with Imago combining talents from all over the world to be in this newly-unveiled and highly anticipated venue. Hailed as northern Ontario's best live venue, the 15,000 square foot mansion is a very classy nightclub which will make the perfect atmosphere for the event. This multi-faceted club setting will fuse a unique blend of arts, fashion and entertainment. Expect a jaw-dropping, eye-opening experience when Imago Fashion takes over Barrie's oldest but most newly renovated club, The Mansion, on November 29th. For those not aware of the power of this fashion force, be prepared for an assault of your senses.
FASHION - Couture culture of fashion fetishism and tantalizing performances with mixed elements of punk, glam, street couture, steam punk, futuristic, Baroque and Rococo inspired fashions. Wanderlust will be featuring designers from all over the world such as clothing made by Project Runway winner EVAN BIDDELL, Material Boy, Nervous Breakthrough, jewellery by Lan Hua, Leather works by Spiked Cow, DaLee Cutting, and custom pieces by Rogue just to name a few. This will combine indie designers with those that have paved the way to create a fashion show of merging artists.
Also showing... In their first capsule collection, youth.inAsia will fuse the elements of a post-apocalyptic and contemporary world. Creating an aesthetic which highlights the degradation of the human form and marries aspects of man-made culture and nature, youth.inAsia are a fashion duo to watch out for in the future. The label, by Aidan Mayner and Joshua Shier, was built on the simplicity of geometry and the complexity of humanity. Using sculptural and architectural shapes, each piece strives to evoke a curiosity in not only how it's made, but how it is worn.
Also involved, for the love of footwear and all shoe-aholics, will be Town Shoes.
PERFORMANCES - Expect the unexpected as past shows have included a mix of ballet, opera, violins, rock stars and performance artists. Imago's fifth fashion event will feature a dazzling performance by Shien Lee of the band Shanghai Triad, a Chinese diva from NYC who is trained in Erhu and Chinese song. Shanghai Triad has been collaborating with New York jazz musicians Grandpa Musselman & His Syncopators to achieve an authentic vintage sound that captures the essence of the rebellion, decadence, and romanticism of the 1920-30s in Shanghai. With them for a special one night performance they will be playing with Barrie's own Brett Caswell.
Also not to be missed is Chris Cunningham couture who will bring this A fashion party to a whole new level.
Also in attendance will be Bizune, a Toronto-based electronic music duo. Having already achieved international success, they are now taking the Toronto club scene by storm.
Imago Film OBSERVATION will be debuting its trailer for the spring launch of 45 minute filmed Produced by Master Robert of MORPHEAL PRODUCTIONS.
INSPIRATION - These do-it-yourself designers are styled by Sandra Roberts, Imago's mastermind, who has the mandate to merge fashion, music and culture by supporting and bringing together indie fashion labels, photographers, videographers, artists and musicians from all backgrounds. Roberts has been entertaining audiences since 2005, dressing top models such as Jessica Stam and Andi Muse for international shows. Her work has been seen on Bravo and Fashion television. Roberts is also Founder & Editor-in-Chief for Imago Zine, a hip glossy read that provides first-hand insight into the real underground counter culture of today and showcasing what is coming tomorrow. Imago Zine praises its widespread success with production from a Top 2 international distribution company with the launch of Issue 4 at Wanderlust. It is the quintessential expression of modern day life.
