Out of this year's 125 candidates, six exceptional and successful women were honoured at the prestigious 2008 RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Awards at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on December 09, 2008. The purpose of the Awards is to provide national recognition to Canada's women entrepreneurs, whose successful businesses and achievements contribute so much to the Canadian and global economies as well as to their communities.

The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards are the pre-eminent national business awards recognizing the country's leading female entrepreneurs. Canada's future economic development and prosperity depend on the fact that entrepreneurs, particularly women entrepreneurs be encouraged and cultivated. Women deserve recognition for their dedication to their business success and for the inspiration to younger generations of aspiring women entrepreneurs.

The Deloitte Start-Up Award: Miriam and Natalie Gee, Gee Beauty (Toronto, Ontario)
		Miriam and Natalie Gee's experience, passion and belief of all things stylish and beautiful led them to the successful creation of Gee Beauty, a makeup and skincare studio. The mother-daugther team saw holes in the retail beauty world and were determined to create a more modern, focussed concept. From this vision the Gee women came up with the time-sensitive concept of "beauty-on-the-go", all because of the desire to look and feel gorgeous. Gee Beauty has won a number of awards for it's branding and visual displays including the One Show Pencil from The One Club of Advertising and Design in New York in 2007, the Yellow Pencil from The Design and Art Director's Club in London in 2008 and the Gold Design Lion from The Cannes Lion Advertising Festival in Cannes 2008.
